Shoeless Joe Jackson Museum Celebrates 3rd Anniversary and Will Dedicate The Gene Carney Library.

Greenville, SC -- June 3, 2011 – Since opening its doors in June 2008, the Shoeless Joe Jackson Museum in Greenville, SC, has attracted thousands of visitors from across the US and foreign countries. The museum, located in the house where baseball legend Shoeless Joe Jackson lived and died, has become a destination hotspot for baseball fans of all ages.

On Saturday, June 18, 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m., the museum will host an array of activities, including the unveiling of a SC historic marker in the front yard.

A special collection of baseball books and research papers donated by the family of the late Gene Carney, author of Burying the Black Sox: How Baseball's Cover-Up of the 1919 World Series Almost Succeeded, will also be dedicated.

The new SHOELESS JOE COOKBOOK will be unveiled, featuring favorite recipes from Shoeless Joe fans. Museum tours, panel discussions and special exhibits will continue throughout the event.

10:30 a.m. WARM-UP Unveiling of SC Historic Marker; dedication of new library collection

11:00 a.m. ON THE MOUND 1919 World Series experts Mike Nola and Jacob Pomrecke discuss the 1919 Black Sox scandal and its cover-up.

11:30 a.m. DOUBLEHEADER Cornell "Old Corn" Blakely played in the Negro Leagues at age 15. The former left-fielder with the Greenville Black Spinners talks with Tom Perry, noted author and expert on textile league baseball.
